Pertemps Champions Willberry Charity Race Day

Thursday saw me at Cheltenham Racecourse to photograph the Pertemps Champions Willberry Charity Race Day for the two charities, The Willberry Wonder Pony Charity and The Bob Champion Cancer Trust, two amazing cancer charities.

The day started with a fund raising lunch attended by over 300 people and featured an auction, raffle and silent auction. This was followed by a full days excellent racing culminating in a charity flat race featuring a mixture of celebrity riders and members of the public. All of the riders had raised sponsorship to take part with over £110,000 being raised for the charities from this source alone. Celebrity riders came from the world of eventing Sir Mark Todd, Ben Hobday, Tina Cook and Alice Fox Pitt. The race was won by Soldier Ben Moore on Three Star General for Somerset Trainer, David Pipe.

Before the charity race started there was a parade of Champions featuring four legendary horses Charlotte Dujardin’s Dressage superstar Valegro, Nick Skelton’s Olympic gold medal partner, Big Star. Nicky Henderson’s record breaking Chaser Sprinter Sacre and William Fox Pitt’s Badminton Winner Chilli Morning.

A fabulous day and a real privilege to be able to record it for the charities.
